Dear Saints of Our Savior’s,

These video-recorded sermons would have been preached in divine services in our sanctuary, but because of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have suspended services until further notice and so have made them available to you here. We encourage you to watch these videos as part of your worship at home using one of the services from your LSB hymnal, perhaps using one of the Daily Prayer services on pp.294-298. If you do not have a hymnal, you may borrow one from church. We are open during regular office hours.

The Lord be with you!

+ Pr. Schulz

The prayer of our ascended Lord Jesus is that His Father display His glory by saving and preserving believers through faith in His life and death for the world. He promises to send the Holy Spirit to keep us united in our hope of eternal life. God’s will be done!

This will be our last pre-recorded video services during the COVID-19 pandemic social distancing orders and guidelines. We will return to in-person worship beginning Thursday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. and Sunday, May 31 at 8:00 & 9:30 a.m. to celebrate the Feast of Pentecost.

Christians have hope that does not disappoint because God the Holy Spirit lives in us with His love. Baptism is the means by which the Holy Spirit enters our hearts by faith. The death and resurrection of Christ gives the promises of Baptism its power to save.

“Let not your hearts be troubled,” Jesus said. Why? Because there is a place for you in His Father’s house, and he’s gone to prepare a place for you! We trust Jesus’ promise and so fear gives way to hope. The order of service for this video is provided here. Please note that in some cases due to technical difficulties the video is flipped (you’ll see what that means during the hymns).

The Emmaus disciples said about their encounter with Jesus after his resurrection, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” Hearing the Scriptures read and preached today does the same thing for his modern-day disciples. Thanks be to God! The order of service for this video is provided here.

Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! What a strange time it is that on the highest holy day of the church year calendar we are not able to gather to praise God for his mercy in Christ who died, but was raised to life again for our salvation. This video is the best we can do at this time of social distancing during the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. The pandemic is a world-wide reminder of sin and death, but this video is a reminder that Christ has triumphed over sin and death by his death and resurrection from the dead. Those who trust in Christ as their Savior will not die, but live. Thanks be to God! The order of service for this video is provided here.

Palm Sunday is also known as Sunday of the Passion. The tradition on Passion Sunday is to read the Passion of our Lord in its entirety from one of the Gospel accounts. This year’s reading is from St. Matthew’s Gospel (26:1 – 27:66; the video also includes the account of the triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday 21:1-11). The video is an audio recording of Pr. Schulz reading the Passion of our Lord according to St. Matthew accompanied by illustrations from The Bible, Illustrated by the French “Preacher Painter” artist Paul Gustave Doré (1832-1883).
